I was raised in a military family and have siblings and family members who are disabled veterans. After working an entire career in corporate America, I went back to school to get my Master’s degree and detailed training to help serve veterans and their families. I served at the VA for over 4 years, providing counseling to veterans from the Korean War era to those just returning from service. My specific training is in PTSD recovery; relationship coaching; readjustment to home, work, and community; anger management; EMDR; and protocols to work on depression, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain. I am able to make appropriate referrals to medical resources, vocational rehabilitation, and marital and family therapies as part of helping each client achieve wellness and his/her new normal. Prior to the VA I worked 5 years in a community walk-in crisis clinic; helping with anxiety, depression, life transitions and losses, wellness and recovery. My work has always avoided labels and focused on finding your strengths and abilities to resolve your life disturbance.
