Eric’s Background and Counseling Philosophy

Dr. Habrel has been practicing in southeastern Wisconsin since 1986. He integrates family systems, cognitive therapy and self-psychology approaches in his work. Eric’s therapeutic approach focuses on respecting each individual, and collaborating with clients in ways that help them access their own unique strengths and abilities with which to face life’s challenges. Eric taught in the Helen Bader  Graduate School of Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for over 20 years, and has been an Adjunct Faculty member at Ottawa University-WI  since 2012. Eric has also served as a Faculty Member and Approved Supervisor with the Family Therapy Training Institute since 1988, and provides consultation services to Aurora Family Service,  Wraparound Milwaukee, and Recovery Point. His expertise in marital and family therapy is used in his clinical work, consulting and seminar presentations, as well as in teaching, supervising and training of  mental health professionals throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.
